Portugal Pena
At the end of a road through the Serra de São Macário, north of São Pedro do Sul (quasi at the end of the world), deep down in a valley basin, lies the small village of Pena. Only ten people still live in the village, which is built entirely of slate.
Travel Information
Steeper and steeper, sometimes almost vertical, the serpentine road descends in extremely steep and narrow hairpin bends. There is a small car park in front of the village, the alleys in the village are too narrow for vehicles.
