Romania Peles Castle, Sinaia

The castle was built between 1873 and 1883 for King Carol I of Romania. It served as his summer residence until King Carol I's death in 1914. After the abolition of the monarchy in 1947, the castle was confiscated by the communist regime.

Following the Romanian Revolution in 1989, the Peleș and Pelișor castles were returned to former King Michael, who was living in Swiss exile at that time.

In the years 2008, 2011, and 2017, the castle was used as a backdrop for various films, including "Brothers Bloom," "A Princess for Christmas," and "A Christmas Prince."

I would say, this is one of the most beautiful castles in Romania and it's definitely worth a trip.

Photography Tips

Come as early as possible, as there won't be that much tourists. Best time could be between 8am and 9am, as the castle is nicely lit by the sun (from the right side).
When entering the path to the castle, always keep right and walk to this position: 45.358913, 25.543897
From here you'll get a great view.
Walk up the hill through the grassy landscape and on the top, there's a small gate. You are directly at the castle.

A lens between 24-105mm will make a decent job.
