Roque Cinchado is a rock formation. It is a pretty famous spot and is visited by millions of people every year. Why you should get there? Well, you have to visit it and get there, then let me know what you think.

When we had our currency, "pesetas", Roque Cinchado was an item in 1000 pesetas bills. (Google 1000 pesetas teide)

In this case, I only can say that daylight is beautiful. But, when the sun goes down, the night sky is just awesome, which is rated with class 3-4 on the Bortle's scale, so you will see with the naked eyes large structures and galaxies like M31.

To get there is easy, pretty easy in fact. You only have to go to Parque Nacional del Teide and be here (Google Maps: 28.225351, -16.631692)

In that spot, you will find a lot of items to take pictures of, not only rock formations but flowers and animals (like lizards).

Photography Tips

Go there in the blue hour, explore the area and go out at night to shoot. Use a wide-angle/tripod and also make long exposures to capture the stars.
Be aware that the roques are extremely dark so if you are making your foreground shots separately, you need to keep in mind that you may need to expose longer than normal.

What do I need?:
-Manual mode
-ISO between 3200-6400 (for me 3200 works fine)
-Shutter speed at least 15 seconds (I can reach 20 seconds with no star movement).
-White Balance. I used to set at 3500-3800 k. Depends on how I see the sky or the spot.

If you are using lights, I recommend torches with yellow light. Otherwise, if you use a flash or a source of white light, the light will appear blue due to WB. If you don't have a specific torch, you can use yellow paper and wrap your flash with it so the light will be yellow or orange.

Travel Information

You only need to follow TF 21 road from La Orotava, TF 24 road (From La Laguna), get Tf 21, or Tf 38 from Chío and get Tf 21. Or just simply put the coordinates in Google Maps.

I suggest spending the whole day exploring the PN Teide, you will find a lot of places to visit and take pictures.

In this spot, you will find parking and a place to take a rest (even a sleep if you have booked previously). Warning: With coronavirus thing, the Parador de Cañadas del Teide might be closed. So please, take a look at their website and notice (http://parador-de-canadas-del-teide.la-orotava.hotel-tenerife.net/en/)

About clothes and that kind of stuff. It is a spot located above 2000 masl so be aware you could need winter clothes in winter, spring or autumn. It is "mandatory" to use suncream and sunglasses. Bring water and food despite just crossing the road you'll find the Parador.

Be polite with nature, and enjoy the location.

If you need more information, let me know and I'll do my best to give you what you need.
