About the location
The island’s original geographic nature is volcanic, with four eruptions in recent history, although none have caused any casualties. The most recent eruption was in 1909. Because of the differing altitudes and the uneven landscape of the island, there is a multitude of different landscapes throughout its 2000 square kilometres, including mountains, beaches and valleys. With a warm tropical climate year round, Tenerife is ideal for an island getaway.
The island is filled with a plethora of different activities and excursions, most of these taking place outdoors. Some of the most exciting things to do include visiting Loro Parque, the island’s zoo, having a rush of adrenaline at Siam Water Park, exploring Teide National Park, which is filled with natural wonders, hiking Musca Barranco and soaking up the sun at Playa del Duque. Loro Parque is one of the largest attractions in the entirety of the Canary Islands, and showcases animals such as parrots, sharks, sea lions and piranhas; visit if you are interested in photographing tropical animals. Siam Water Park claims to be one of the top water attractions in Europe, featuring a Siamese (Thai) theme. The park features a large variety of water attractions, as well as a traditional Thai floating market; it is also the world’s first green water park. Take some awesome action photos here to showcase your experience!
Teide National Park is one of the island's natural wonders, featuring a volcanic landscape filled with craters, cooled lava and the intimidating Teide volcano. Visitors can spend time here hiking, observing amazing geological forms, or taking guided tours explaining how the park was formed. The national park offers stunning photo opportunities as well!
Trekking in Masca, a stunning village located in a gorge, is a popular activity on the island, yet not for the weak of heart. The path goes from the centre of the village to the sea, giving marvelous views as hikers descend around 600m, while seeing more of Tenerife’s geological diversity, which is even more amazing to capture in a photograph. To get to Masca, take a tour bus or public transport. Playa del Duque is one of Tenerife’s most popular beaches, and for a good reason: its beautiful backdrop. Go here to spend a day in the sun, and make sure to capture a few photos of the turquoise water while you’re there. Overall, these are just a few of Tenerife’s many attractions.
