Spain Plaza Mayor, Salamanca at night.
The old part of Salamanca is a tourism hot spot with many attractions including this Plaza which is framed by beautiful Spanish Baroque buildings of uniform design on all four sides. It is busiest at night when the restaurants do a booming trade but that is also the best time for photography of the buildings and the human interactions. Built in the 18th C as a bullfighting arena, today the bulls are long gone and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Photography Tips
For night photography use a tripod and HDR technique to avoid blown out highlights and stopped up black areas. Take a wide angle lens, these images were 27mm f.i. and 24mm f.l. respectively. That's not to say that other focal lengths won't work, intact if your interest is street photography any fast lens in the range 50mm - 100mm would be advised.
Travel Information
I flew to Salamanca. For easy access to the historic areas it is best to get accommodation in the old town. There are plenty of options available. You can then walk everywhere.
