Tunisia Star Wars Filmset: 'Slaves Quarters', Ksar Hadada, Tunisia
Ksar Hadada, located in southeastern Tunisia, is a ksar famous for being a filming location in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and currently used as a hotel. Positioned 30 kilometers northwest of Tataouine, it was part of Mos Espa's Slave Quarters. Historically, the village had a semi-nomadic lifestyle based on agriculture and transhumance, which declined in the 20th century. Today, Ksar Hadada attracts tourists with its well-preserved structures, including vaulted storage rooms called ghorfas, used for storing food and valuables. The village's history is largely unrecorded, but it likely served as a resting place for trade caravans.
