Hogmanay in Edinburgh was one of the best New Year festivals I've experienced.

A tripod would have been ideal, but it is way too crowded, practice you steady arms in sub zero temperatures.

Parking at Hogmanay is very much a challenge, stay local and walk. plus you'll want to soak in the atmosphere, note Hogmanay is at least 3 days long with many events to see.
