On the hill (Spanish: Cerro), which Magellan is said to have seen on his search for a passage through the continent ("Monte vido eu" / I see a mountain), there has been a lighthouse since 1804. It is surrounded by a small fortress. From here you have a beautiful view across the bay to the city and its port.
