Out in the middle of no where. 45 min drive from Farmington, NM. It is a sacred Navajo site, so treat with respect.

Photography Tips

This was shot late afternoon in Aug. Any time is good, but I wanted to capture the deep blue NM sky which contrast well in black and white. The volcano is approx 1700 ft high, so very dramatic shots from any angle. Use polarized and UV filter to capture blue skys

Travel Information

you can enter the grounds off the highway. They are not marked, but you will see open gates. Treat with utmost respect. I was the only one on the grounds when I took the shots as it is a very isolated area.
