USA Fort Point National Historic Site
Fort Point is a masonry seacoast fortification completed just before the American Civil War by the United States Army, to defend San Francisco Bay against hostile warships. The fort is now protected as Fort Point National Historic Site. Very popular location to shoot the Golden Gate Bridge.
Photography Tips
Best to shoot at sunrise to avoid the crowds. Great for sunset as well if you want to have the sun in the shot.
Travel Information
By car via US-101/Presidio Pkwy to Lincoln Blvd. Parking is available at Fort Point and nearby Crissy Field. By public transit, San Francisco Muni 28 and PresidiGo (Crissy Field Route) buses stop at bridge toll plaza. Follow trail signs northeast of plaza area to Fort Point at base of bluffs.
