USA 18th Street Bridge, Chicago, Illinois
This is a great spot for a unique view of the Chicago skyline. Not many people venture to the South Side when touristing, so this a great place to get away from the crowds and find a less traditional angle of a gorgeous skyline. It's also much more "Chicago" than most skyline shots, as it shows the grunge of the real working city. The park showcased in the second picture is another good angle, and you're also just a short walk away from Chinatown, so this is a great area for a start of a photo walk.
Photography Tips
Walk the entire 18th street bridge when looking for your composition. A few feet in either direction can make a huge difference. There are lots of opportunities to use either the river or the train tracks as leading lines to draw the user's eye towards the cityscape. Sunset is my favourite time for this view, especially because Chinatown is so close and it's a fun area for a nighttime street walk.
Travel Information
There's lots of parking at Ping Tom Park on the north side of 18th street on the east side of the river.
