USA Toketee Falls

One of the most famous waterfalls in all of Oregon, renowned for the graceful columnar basalt formation framing the two-stepped falls

Photography Tips

Toketee Falls is one of the most photographed waterfalls in southern Oregon due to its ease of access, but its also one of the few waterfalls where there is literally only one perspective that can be shot (that being from the viewing deck). People have found scramble paths leading down to the bottom of the gorge, however the only possible way I could see of reaching the base of the falls involve scaling nearly sheer cliffs. The falls are set deep within an alcove that faces west and are well shaded until mid day. If overcast conditions are elusive, plan on shooting this one either before 9am or close to sun-down.

Travel Information

The Toketee Falls trailhead can be found 1/2 mile north of Highway 138 near Toketee Lake, itself about 43 miles east of Glide, Oregon or 16 miles west of Diamond Lake. Simply watch for the road signs. The trail leading to the viewpoint is about 1/3 of a mile in length and while it is not designed for the disabled, it is well graded and easy to travel.
