USA Devils Garden
Devils Garden is an easy meander amongst acres of sandstone hoodoos. It’s location just a few hundred yards off of Hole in The Rock Road makes it a popular stop for all ages. There are several photogenic arches scattered in the area as well as large whimsically shaped hoodoos. The elegant Metate Arch is the largest and most photographed in Devils Garden. There are numerous hikes/attractions along the 55.5 mile (89 km) dirt/gravel road including Bighorn Canyon, Spooky Gulch, Peek-a-Boo Slot Canyon, Dance Hall Rock, Brimstone Canyon, Neon Canyon/Golden Cathedral, Zebra Slot Canyon, Broken Bow Arch, Coyote Gulch, and Harris Wash. These spots range from a 20 minute stop to multi day backpacks.
Photography Tips
Due to its easy access and popularity, it’s a good idea to get there early in the morning or late afternoon.
Travel Information
Located 12 miles (19.3 km) from Utah Highway 12 just off Hole in the Rock Road. The road is generally well maintained gravel that has moderate washboarding up to Devils Garden. The road deteriorates just beyond there and becomes severely washboarded until it dead ends at Hole in the Rock. There is ample parking, several picnic tables, and a vault toilet at this site.
