USA Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Morrison, Colorado

Red Rocks is a legendary outdoor concert venue just near Denver, Colorado. If you don't want to spend the money to see a show here, you'll at least want to visit the grounds some other time (it's open to the public when there isn't a show). In addition to wandering around the amphitheatre itself, consider taking a walk on one of the many short hikes in the area.

There are a lot of ways you can shoot Red Rocks, so it's a little hard to give worthwhile advice that's relevant to everyone... That said, I'd recommend coming here for a sunrise. Bring a wide lens so you can get the dramatic rock slabs in addition to some of the horizon. I like shooting the pre-dawn horizon, as you'll get some color along the horizon, some stars in the sky, and the artificially illuminated rocks. Depending on the angle of the sun during sunrise, the sun might glint off one of the rocks quite nicely as it comes over the horizon. If you're shooting this way, you'll obviously need a tripod. You can also see the Denver skyline from the amphitheatre, so you may want to bring a telephoto. Personally, I think there are much better views of the Denver skyline, but you may feel differently.

Google will easily get you here. If you're visiting when there isn't a show, there will be plenty of parking and no entrance fee.
