USA Wailua Falls (Base)

The Wailua Falls are the most impressive falls in Kauai - especially after it rained. The lush green scenery surrounding the waterfall makes for beautiful picture opportunities.

It's best to come here for sunrise for the least amount of people, before the sun hits too much of the waterfall and the surrounding area.

Next to the official car park (right at the start on the right) you can see a small muddy path leading down to the waterfall. Disclaimer: This picture was taken many years ago and researching the internet, in 2021 apparently people have been fined as the path down there is stated as "too dangerous" by the government. Years ago, my experience was totally fine, but before you are going check how muddy it is and if it is actually legal to go.
