USA Taggart Lake
Destination for one of the most popular short trails (3.3 miles/5.3 km) in Grand Teton National Park.
Photography Tips
Early morning is best for calm water on the lake. Carry bear spray, especially if you’re planning to be there at or near sunrise and/or if you’re hiking alone. This is grizzly bear and black bear country. If hiking with friends, make sure you’re faster than them.
Travel Information
The trailhead to hike to Taggart Lake is located along the park’s main scenic drive, Teton Park. Enter Grand Teton National Park through the Moose entrance station outside of Jackson, Wyo. Continue on Teton Park Road for approximately 2.3 miles (3.7 km) and you’ll see parking for Taggart Lake on the left side of the road. Try to get there early since this is a popular hike and the parking lot may fill up on summer days.
