USA Wormsloe Historic Site
This is a very old plantation/estate property with a 1.5 mile long tunnel of Live Oak Trees. It is a very popular location for wedding photographer types. It is usually quite busy and one must be patient to wait long enough to get a shot without other people in it. If you arrive late in the day, IE after 3:00PM you can get a pass or written note to allow you to return the next day for no additional charge. It does not open before 9:00AM so it is very unlikely to get an early sunlight shot. It also closes at 5:00 PM.
Photography Tips
A wide angle lens will get the entire scene in front of you in the picture, but you will get a more impactful shot using a 50mm or 70mm (on aps sized sensors) to emphasize the tunnel effect by pulling the trees closer together.
Travel Information
If staying in the Savannah area it is no more than 30 minutes to get to this from anywhere in the city. You must enter the gate and speak to a ranger who will direct you to one of about 8 spots where you can only park for about 10 minutes. After buying a ticket you must drive through the tunnel, 1.5 miles to the visitor's centre where there is parking for about 30 vehicles. There is no remaining mansion that you can explore so the tunnel is the main draw to this site. The rangers explained that there are plenty of other photogenic spots on the property but I only experienced the tunnel.
