USA Stellwagen Bank
If you visit Massachusetts, definitely go on a whale watch; try Capt. John Whale Watching out of Plymouth, MA. It travels to Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary which is an 842-square-mile federally protected marine sanctuary located at the mouth of Massachusetts Bay, between Cape Cod and Cape Ann. It is known as an excellent whale watching site, and is home to many other species of marine life.
Photography Tips
Although you'll get close at times to the whales, bring your telephoto to get tighter shots. Also expect a fair amount of movement of the ship, so ideally also have a monopod to steady your camera & lens. We got VERY lucky this day as we came across a dead whale carcass with a great white shark (common in the area) having a feast!
