USA View of Mt Rainier from Burroughs
Burroughs Mountain is a short hike (I am guessing 3-4 hours for the average hiker) from the Sunrise Visitor Center at Mt Rainier national park. This point provides an epic close-up view of Mt Rainier.
Photography Tips
Early, early, early, Start the hike out of Sunrise pre-dawn and you will bypass the swarm of people that arrive mid-morning and you will arrive at this point in time to capture the early morning light reflecting off of the mountain. Bring a breakfast and enjoy the scenery.
Travel Information
The road to Sunrise is shutdown for snow in the winter so your only time to access this area is from late June/Early July through late September/early October. Take the Sourdough Ridge trail towards Frozen Lake. There is a sign for the trail to Burroughs shortly past the lake. You'll be gaining some altitude so be prepared to be pushing towards 7,000'.
