Argentina Hornocal Road Viewpoint
From Humahuaca a gravel road leads over 25 km up to Cerro Hornocal at 4350 m altitude. After an initially low gradient, it becomes steeper and steeper, with increasingly narrow serpentines. The best view of the route is from this bend.
Travel Information
The road is a poor gravel track with a considerable amount of washboard. The gradient is extreme, especially in the back section, and the altitude and the "thin" air with little oxygen are also problematic. That is why it is very important to pay attention to the coolant temperature! In fact, I had to take several breaks to cool down the engine. And below the view, there was a parked car on the side of the road, with a water stain under the engine.
