Austria Hut at Mooserboden Stausee

This high-level water reservoir can be found in the mountains around Zell am See-Kaprun. From the dam itself, you can find multiple hiking routes or go for a walk and have lunch in the nearby restaurant.

There are options to stay overnight in smaller huts to be up there for sunrise/sunset. I used a low-angle shot to cover the dirt road toward the hut. Some flowers are also lovely in the foreground to make the colors pop.

You must take two buses and a lift to get to the upper reservoir. Parking at the station is free of charge. Be aware of the operation hours (no operation in winter at all). You could hike up, but it will be long and steep. In winter, don't try to hike up by yourself because of the danger of avalanches.

To get to this hut: get off the last bus and walk up to the right of the big building (toilets can be found here). You can spot the cabin right after getting off the bus.
