Canada Athabasca Falls
The Athabasca Falls are a EWC class 5.7 waterfall along the Icefields Parkway sporting an impressive water volume rushing into a narrow gorge after an 80 ft. drop. Here you see the unsung side of the falls, as most photographers and tourists will look for the grand views of the falls below the majestic Mt. Kerkeslin. Shooting from the viewing platforms you see in the back you will have a towering mountain over the falls. Go at sunrise or sunset to get the best light, or on an overcast day. Also don't miss on the slot canyon behind the falls from the bridge of the highway you can get nice views.
Photography Tips
Bring a wide-angle lens (24mm or less on FF). Also take ND-filters and make sure to have a cloth handy as the spray can be bad.
Travel Information
Avoid the crowds in the summer months between 10am and 4pm. Especially at night you might have the falls to yourself.
