Schloss Hohenschwangau, or Hohenschwangau Castle, is a picturesque palace located near the village of Schwangau in Bavaria, Germany. Hohenschwangau Castle was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria and was also where he spent much of his youth. It was built by Ludwig's father, King Maximilian II of Bavaria, on the ruins of the medieval fortress Schwanstein in the 19th century.
