The Khongoryn Els is a part of the Khongor Sand Dunes and with up to 300m in height the highest in the whole stretch. From there, you can overlook the whole landscape.

Photography Tips

If the sand hits the dune, make sure to have a high shutter speed so you can freeze the moment. Furthermore, underexpose a bit so you don't loose the highlights of the flying sand.

Travel Information

You can drive there from several points. Easiest and fastest is from Bayandalai. Make sure to have a proper 4x4 car (recommended) and be experienced with driving in sandy conditions. Otherwise, you can book yourself a tour or a car with a driver. Entrance is around 2,50 EUR. Card is accepted.

Hiking up that sand dune will take about 1 hour. Take breaks and take enough water. This will be very tiring.
