Namibia View to Sossus Dune Lodge

The Sossus Dune Lodge is beautifully situated on a mountain side, not far from the Sesriem Canyon.

The photo was taken from the access road to the valley of the Tsauchab river, Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. The lodge can be reached via the access to Sesriem Canyon.
The well-furnished chalets in the style of an African village stand on stilts over the rocks. A boardwalk connects all buildings with each other.
Standing above the rocks, the chalets heat up extremely during the day and release the heat inwards at night. There is no air conditioning or a facility to be opened while keeping bugs out. Anyway, there are various openings on the doors that allow insects inlet.
The lodge is part of the state-owned Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR). But the service and kitchen are well behind their lodges in Etosha. The lodge is located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, so you are not dependent on the opening hours of the park. The privilege of very early and very late access to the National Park and Sossusvlei / Dead Vlei is the main reason for this lodge. The permit for the park is included in the room rate (for the duration of the stay there).
