Namibia Kodak Point Sandwich Harbor, Namibia
Sandwich Harbor, located on the Atlantic coast of Namibia within the Namib-Naukluft National Park, is a breathtaking natural wonder where towering dunes meet the ocean. This unique and remote destination offers an unforgettable experience of dramatic landscapes and rich biodiversity. The towering dunes, some reaching heights of over 100 meters, create a striking contrast against the blue waters of the Atlantic. The views from the top of the dunes are spectacular, offering panoramic vistas of the endless desert and coastline.
Photography Tips
I used the car of our tour operator, who drove us to the location as a scale in this never-ending dune landscape. We had a lot of wind and sand flying around, quickly reaching every inch of your camera gear. Protect it as well as possible, and don't change lenses outside the car!
Travel Information
Due to the challenging terrain, access to Sandwich Harbor is only possible with a 4WD vehicle. The drive along the beach and through the dunes is an exhilarating adventure, often requiring skilled navigation through soft sand and shifting landscapes. A permit is required to enter the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Tour operators usually arrange these permits as part of their service.
