Romania Wooden church Paraschiva
The crowning glory of craftsmanship in the use of wood as well as architecture in Romania are the famous wooden churches in Maramureş. Some are actually made entirely of wood, without a single nail!. Particularly beautiful examples stand in the valley of the river Iza (Valea Izei), between Moisei and Sighetu Maramaţiei. This one at Poienile Izei, built in 1604, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
